Playing in the Rain
We had a spontaneous after dinner romp in the rain. It was great. It started to rain during dinner and it was going at a pretty steady rate. Once we were finished eating I got everyone out to the garage and and we watched the rain come down. I jumped out and ran around a few times, hoping to get Autumn to come out, but she wasn't ready yet. Richard ran out a few times as well. It took a bit, but Autumn came around and joined us. I finally ran down to the street to step in the puddles and that's when Autumn finally came out all the way and the rest you can see in pictures.

Just Like Her Daddy
One afternoon after her nap, she went into "Daddy's Room" (the game room where our desks are and my crafts are) and discovered one of Richard's video game consoles. He put in Katamari Damacy and she actually was interested and moved the controls to move the little guy around the screen. The music is so much fun in the game, so that was a factor in her enjoyment.

Love her after-nap pigtails!

New Booster Seat
We switched Autumn to a booster seat so that she could join us at the table. We also hoped that it would help her posture while eating, which is something that the therapists pointed out at the feeding evaluation. I was curious to see how she'd do with the high chair going away, but she is excited about the booster seat. I think part of it is because she can put her dolls and animals in the seat and pretend that they are having a meal. It is nice to have her at the table with us, which is something that I like when we are out at restaurants, but it is still a transition (learning process) for all three of us.

Hair Clip
I put a clip in her hair this morning. She's not giving me that face because of the clip, though. It's because I tried taking a picture of her but wouldn't let her see the camera display at the exact same time I was trying to take a picture of her. I tried to explain that I have to take the picture first, then I'll show it to her, but she wants it NOW! So she lunges for the camera instead of sitting pretty like she used to.

And yes, I used a brown clip so it didn't stand out very much. I'm just not ready for her to have things in her hair that scream "GIRL". We start slowly around here, getting accustomed to that whole "it's a girl?!?!" thing.

First Haircut and Thanksgiving
We waited to cut her bangs until we went up to Gram and Grandpa's because I was too scared to cut it myself. The hair had begun to get stuck in her eyelids it was so long, so I knew we needed to do it soon.
Here is the Before picture:
Here are a few During pictures:
You can see the kind of death-defying circumstances Gram had to work with, what with the sharp, sharp scissors and the baby swinging metal measuring cups about.

And here is the After picture:

And here is my tired, tired Pumpkin at her first Thanksgiving meal. She lasted through an olive slice, a small piece of a roll and a taste of mashed potatoes before I had to put her down for her nap.
Later that night she enjoyed a few tastes of pumpkin pie, so all was not lost!

Patriotic Teething
Since Richard and I voted early, we didn't have to go to a polling place. But I decided to dress her up as a patriotic baby who is looking forward to casting her first presidential vote in 2028!
No joke, she's actually teething this time. I promise! I can actually see where the top of the tooth has broken through her gum. I can only see the bottom left one, so I'm not sure if both are coming in or not.
I got a Babybel cheese package for a snack, but gave it to Autumn to carry into the living room. I wasn't able to get it back from her for about 20 minutes because it made the perfect teething toy. She gnawed on that thing and was so happy!

Sleeping is Serious Business!
This morning I was trying to get Autumn back to sleep after her morning feeding, but she really wasn't in the mood. It took about 10 minutes for her to finally calm down, then her eyes started drooping, and finally she stopping doing her patented "wait, I'm falling asleep, we can't have that" full body wiggles. I carefully set her down in the pack'n'play, trying to be as gentle as possible. Unfortunately as soon as she touched the bed, her eyes pop open, her back arches, her hands rub her cheeks, and she gets the biggest grin on her face.
I point at her sternly and say "This is no laughing matter!" She thought that was really funny.
I pick her up and start to rock and bounce her back to sleep. Once again, eyes droop, wiggles cease, and carefully she goes into the pack'n'play. And once again, eyes open, back arches, hands rub, and mouth grins.
"Look, this is serious business! You need to go back to sleep!" She wriggled around in the bed a few times to show me how much respect she has for my authority. Yup, definitely her mother's daughter. I was beginning to suspect that she wasn't going back to sleep but the third time was the charm.
Added by Deb:
Well, she woke up at 8 and you left at 7:50, so there wasn't much business being done!
Oh, and I heard you through the monitor. You weren't as stern as you thought you were. I heard you laughing with her! She's hard to resist though, I'll give you that!
