Sad to Happy

Everyday Autumn has school, I take a picture of her in front of the door. Here she is showing off her personality. All these pictures were taken within 30 seconds.

I almost got a smile here.

Now she's extra grumpy because she almost smiled.  Oh boy, look at that stare!  Daggers!

Oh, there she is! I know that girl!

MDO Thanksgiving Party

Today was Autumn's Mother's Day Out Thanksgiving party.  They decorated placemats with things they were thankful for!  Let's see, off of that plate of food, Autumn ate the cheese and some ketchup!  She might have had a tiny piece of bread, I'm not sure.

Here comes the hoards!

First Day of School

Autumn's second first day of Mother's Day Out. I did a lot of talking to her about how her teachers from last year wouldn't be her teachers again, but I don't think she really got it. I told her she would see them at school and on the playground, but she'd have new teachers. She did really great at drop off. Just the smallest hesitation at the door but then she went right in.

Here is a comparison of the two years of first days. The difference is 3" and 4 lbs.

Meet the Teacher

Autumn had her meet the teacher today. It went great! Her new teachers seem really great and supportive of potty training. We are sending her in panties for the first day with lots of changes of clothes, but I think she'll do great.

Misc June Photos

Her first week of summer camp and she loved it!

Eerie how similar these pictures are. Also eerie that I knew exactly where to find this picture back before she was even two months old.

First summer playgroup at the pool!

June 7
Autumn has started using Jedi Mind Tricks on us. "You want to pick that up!?" "You want to drive me!?"

June 9
We were playing in your room and I hit my toe on the closet door. You had to know what caused that noise and when I told you it was my toe you told me to lay down and that you were going to "call your doctor." You went to get the old cordless phone from the gameroom and when you came back you knelt beside me, dialed and said,
"This is Autumn. My Mommy's toe is hurting. Okay, I call you back."
I thanked you and tried to sit up but you told me to lay back down and you called back.
"This is Autumn. My Mommy's toe is hurting. Oh! You want to come over? Okay, thanks!"
The last time you said,
"My Mommy's toe is hurting." Then you slapped my leg a few times and said, "My Mommy's leg is hurting!"

You call paper towels "wiper towels"

June 16
Ms. Diana said this was the first day she had to tell you not to do something and you dissolved into tears. Even though she had you all through the year, this camp session is the first time you've started acting out. She said she had to tell you to stop knocking over other kids' lego towers and you started bawling. She said she felt really bad that she made you cry. She was finally able to calm you down telling you that she would help you make your own tower. I told her about the time that I cried when my 7th grade English teacher told me to stop talking, so you and I are very alike!

June 25
You got the phone to call your doctor and you actually used the doctor's correct name. You said, "Dr. Ramsey" but I can't remember the last time we've used her name. Last visit was in February I think.

Last Day of School

This was Autumn's last day of her mother's day out program. She had such a great year, with great teachers who really cared for her. I couldn't have asked for a better first year for Autumn, or for me, because, let's face it, I needed the alone time just as much as Autumn needed the socialization time. And she really did do great making friends and learning to follow rules.

Something set her off just before I took pictures of her last day. Upset girl.

Starting to cheer up...

There's my happy girl!

Here are the treats I made for the kids. I saw it in a magazine sometime during the year and knew that I had to make them.

Happy girl after school. I guess that someone gave the teachers gifts with this tulle on it and Autumn insisted on wearing the bow all day.

I think she was showing me the flowers that she and Daddy planted awhile back.

I signed her up for three week-long sessions of summer camp that the MDO program puts on. Since she had such a great year I wanted to keep her in the habit of going to school over the summer. She'll have one of her old teachers for the first and third weeks, and a different one for the middle one. We'll see how it goes!

Mom's Tea

There was a mom's tea at Autumn's MDO that was really adorable. The kids did a craft for us (a little plastic flower pot that they decorated the insert, and a popsicle stick tulip in Easter grass, plus a card with a handprint) and we had cake and tea.

They served us a slice of pound cake with Hershey's kisses on them. That was all Autumn wanted, was the kisses. There were also kisses in the flower pot and she wanted to eat all of those, too.

My Hershey's Kiss faced girl!

Autumn's Easter Party - MDO

Autumn had her Easter Party at school and the kids had a blast. Here she is before we left for school.

The kids came in from outside and were all flushed and sweaty. They were able to cool down and eat while a few parents and one of her teachers went out to the playground to hide the eggs.

This soccer egg was her absolute favorite. She carried it around all day.

It is so much fun to share these early events with her because everything is just so new and exciting!

MDO Valentine's Day Party

Autumn's class had their Valentine's Party. I was "in charge" of organizing what the other moms brought. It was pretty simple to just divvy up the list I was given. I chose to do heart shaped sugar cookies and I brought a can of icing and sprinkles for all the kids to decorate their cookies. The kids had cheetos and cookies! Such a mess, but such fun!

Autumn and her classmates playing outside. She's to the right of the playground.
