Children's Museum

Gram wanted to go to the Children's Museum for her birthday!

Going shopping!  It was ultra-competitive to get carts in this exhibit.

Autumn's First Movie in a Theater

I took Autumn to her first movie in a movie theater today. We went to the Studio Movie Grill because they were showing Curious George the movie. She's been in love with George since around 15 months, so I knew this would be the right one to see. Plus, she had seen the movie more than a few times and was familiar with it. She did okay for most of it. The movie was much louder than she was used to, so all the noises threw her off. She was a bit restless for awhile and wanted to sit in my lap and talk. I thought we'd have to leave a few times because you just weren't all that interested. But we stuck it out and she got to see her first movie. I was doing this sort of as a test to see if she could sit through a movie she wasn't familiar with (Toy Story 3). I think we'll wait until she's older for a new movie.

Here she is before the movie started with our ordering coaster.

Playing in the Rain

We had a spontaneous after dinner romp in the rain. It was great. It started to rain during dinner and it was going at a pretty steady rate. Once we were finished eating I got everyone out to the garage and and we watched the rain come down. I jumped out and ran around a few times, hoping to get Autumn to come out, but she wasn't ready yet. Richard ran out a few times as well. It took a bit, but Autumn came around and joined us. I finally ran down to the street to step in the puddles and that's when Autumn finally came out all the way and the rest you can see in pictures.

I'm sure our neighbors were watching and thinking we were crazy, but we had a blast.

Wildlife Park

In honor of Richard's birthday we drove up to DFW to go to a wildlife park. It was really cool and everyone loved it.

Once we were in the park we put Autumn's car seat in the back and let her move around freely.

Here we are eating lunch halfway through the tour. This was just before we saw the zebras and the giraffes.

It was so awesome to feed this guy. What a rush. I had a palm full of food and his mouth just took all the food almost at once. I'd tell Richard, "Give me more!" and he'd put more food in my other hand.

Autumn wasn't scared of this guy at all. I was really impressed. I can't remember if she touched him or not, but she was just thrilled to be so close to him.

This was just an awesome experience and we went on a day that wasn't scorching so we really lucked out. We will definitely be going back, hopefully next year.

Just Like Her Daddy

One afternoon after her nap, she went into "Daddy's Room" (the game room where our desks are and my crafts are) and discovered one of Richard's video game consoles. He put in Katamari Damacy and she actually was interested and moved the controls to move the little guy around the screen. The music is so much fun in the game, so that was a factor in her enjoyment.

Love her after-nap pigtails!

Feeding the Ducks

We took Autumn to feed the ducks at the pond in our neighborhood. I wasn't sure how she was going to react, but she was so excited! Towards the end she fed a duck a piece of bread and it nipped at her finger. For the rest of the day she was saying, "Feed the ducks! Bread. Get the finger!" She still talks about it and we have a bag of bread waiting for the weather to warm up just a bit so we can take her back without her hands turning blue!

Halloween

This was Autumn's first time trick-or-treating! I didn't know how she would do, if she would grasp the concept, but she did really well! We only went to about 10 houses in our cul-de-sac. But she held her pumpkin container and said, "Trick-or-treat!" and "tanks!" It was a lot of fun for Richard and I to take her out for her first participation in Halloween! She was a candy corn again because the dress still fit!
