Autumn has started calling me "litte fella". "Here you go, little fella" when handing me something!

May 21
We had just loaded her into the car and we were getting ready to reverse and she said, "awh shet! awh shet!" Richard and I looked at each other very worriedly and she said it again and it finally dawned on me that she was saying, "all set!"

Last Day of School

This was Autumn's last day of her mother's day out program. She had such a great year, with great teachers who really cared for her. I couldn't have asked for a better first year for Autumn, or for me, because, let's face it, I needed the alone time just as much as Autumn needed the socialization time. And she really did do great making friends and learning to follow rules.

Something set her off just before I took pictures of her last day. Upset girl.

Starting to cheer up...

There's my happy girl!

Here are the treats I made for the kids. I saw it in a magazine sometime during the year and knew that I had to make them.

Happy girl after school. I guess that someone gave the teachers gifts with this tulle on it and Autumn insisted on wearing the bow all day.

I think she was showing me the flowers that she and Daddy planted awhile back.

I signed her up for three week-long sessions of summer camp that the MDO program puts on. Since she had such a great year I wanted to keep her in the habit of going to school over the summer. She'll have one of her old teachers for the first and third weeks, and a different one for the middle one. We'll see how it goes!

This is probably THE picture of the summer. Summer 2010 will be forever remembered with this photo for me.

The Big Haircut!

This was a major transformation for Autumn. We had been growing out her hair just because and I was always getting compliments on how pretty it was and how long it was. But really it was scraggly looking. Yes, it had a cute curl to it but it wasn't ever looking strong or healthy. So I had been thinking for awhile about cutting it. On this day we just happened to decide to play in our bathtub for something to do so I figured it would be the perfect day to cut it.

Here is the length it was. It seemed like it would be easy to just chop straight across, but she is wiggly.

It was not even at all, but luckily her hair has that wave to it so was much harder to tell it was uneven when it dries. It changed her hair so much. The part that was left looked so healthy compared to what was attached on the bottom.

It seems like I cut off more than what is here, and I'm sure not all of it made it to the pile, but that is the remains of her first official "big haircut".

Looking through photos and coming to these with her short hair is just amazing. This totally transformed her face. It gave her such a jump into summertime. Richard said it was much easier to do her hair in the bath, though it made her have bedhead more often. I think I'm going to keep it short for the summer and then let it grow out a bit in the fall, but definitely keep it better managed and trimmed from now on.

Bathing Suit Try On

Autumn had Splash Day coming up so I got out the bathing suits for a little try on session. I had the pink polka-dot suit from last year (size 18-24 month) but it was huge on her at 19 months. Fit perfectly this year at 28 months and on through the summer months.

This rainbow suit went back to Target. It just didn't fit her at all.

Here she is all ready for school with her sunscreen and her bathing suit on. Also wearing her swim shoes that Gram got her last year that were huge, but fit now. She loves her swim shoes!

Daddy's Birthday

Happy Birthday to Daddy! This was the second chocolate cake celebration Daddy got.

I love this face on Autumn. So excited!

Yes, those are Autumn's birthday flags that are still up. I think we took them down shortly after this birthday.

Wildlife Park

In honor of Richard's birthday we drove up to DFW to go to a wildlife park. It was really cool and everyone loved it.

Once we were in the park we put Autumn's car seat in the back and let her move around freely.

Here we are eating lunch halfway through the tour. This was just before we saw the zebras and the giraffes.

It was so awesome to feed this guy. What a rush. I had a palm full of food and his mouth just took all the food almost at once. I'd tell Richard, "Give me more!" and he'd put more food in my other hand.

Autumn wasn't scared of this guy at all. I was really impressed. I can't remember if she touched him or not, but she was just thrilled to be so close to him.

This was just an awesome experience and we went on a day that wasn't scorching so we really lucked out. We will definitely be going back, hopefully next year.

Mom's Tea

There was a mom's tea at Autumn's MDO that was really adorable. The kids did a craft for us (a little plastic flower pot that they decorated the insert, and a popsicle stick tulip in Easter grass, plus a card with a handprint) and we had cake and tea.

They served us a slice of pound cake with Hershey's kisses on them. That was all Autumn wanted, was the kisses. There were also kisses in the flower pot and she wanted to eat all of those, too.

My Hershey's Kiss faced girl!
